Comprehensive rehabilitation and energy improvement project for a 19th-century residential building located in the historic heart of Madrid.

The intervention recovers the original essence of the property, restoring façades, courtyards, staircases, and wooden structures with the rigor of traditional techniques, while incorporating contemporary energy-efficiency systems such as external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS/SATE) and aerothermal heat pumps with underfloor heating and cooling. Interior elements —mouldings, joinery, and flooring— are carefully enhanced, restoring the building’s domestic and noble character. The 32 dwellings are reinterpreted with open-plan layouts, cross-ventilation, and en-suite bathrooms, achieving a serene balance between heritage preservation and contemporary living.
